About the album
Tout Seul Dans La Forêt En Plein Jour, Avez-Vous Peur? is the second album by French-Canadian performer Woelv (pronounced Werlv), aka Geneviève Castrée.
In English, its title means All Alone In The Forest In Broad Daylight, Are You Scared? In French, the title is pronounced something like Too Serl Don La Foray On Plarn Joor, Avvay Voo Purr (apologies to any native French speakers!)
Recorded at Dub Narcotic Studios in Olympia, Washington (run by K Records founder Calvin Johnston) Tout Seul was made by Geneviève and her husband Phil Elverum, who also has recorded for K under the names Mt Eerie and The Microphones. It's an album of fractured experimental folk music, full of anguish at the woes of the world but possessed by a kind of fiery determination.
An internationally acclaimed visual artist with a background in self-produced comic art, Geneviève has assembled an album of astounding full-page drawings to accompany the unique Australian edition of Tout Seul. The Aus version also includes an exclusive bonus track, Hiver Nucléaire (Nuclear Winter).
This album was released outside Australia by K Records.
